Case study

Pingrup FOC Install

In 2006, Dunstans Construction Group was engaged by Silcar Communications to lay 35km of Fibre Optic Cable (FOC) to provide telecommunications services within the Pingrup area.

Due to the successful completion of numerous previous FOC install projects for Silcar, we were allocated further separate contracts for FOC installations, which saw the team, move through South Australia into Western Australia over a period of two years.

  • Dunstans utilised a specially designed zero tension plough mounted on a D7 Bulldozer. Pre-ripping was undertaken by a D9 Bulldozer mounted with a single tyne.
  • The installation of the FOC was completed through the farmland and roadside areas of South Australia.
  • Completing the project meant overcoming the challenges of installing the cable in the highly productive agricultural region
with minimal impact to the local stakeholders.

Dunstans completed the project with great success, meeting the client’s expectations and milestones, and satisfying all rigorous safety and quality standards.
