Case study

King Lake FOC Install

In 2006, Dunstans Construction Group was contracted by Silcar Communications to lay 150km of Fibre Optic Cable (FOC) from Hyden
to Lake King, providing vital connections to these rural communities.

Thanks to a proven track record for successfully installing FOCs in remote or challenging regions, Dunstans was awarded numerous other installation contracts, which saw the team move through South Australia into Western Australia over a period of two years.

  • This contract was completed simultaneously with the Telfer FOC project.
  • Ensuring both contracts could be completed within the project timeline required a second Zero Tension Plough. Our in house Maintenance Workshop modified and converted a D7 Bulldozer into another Zero Tension Plough so all critical deadlines were met.
  • The installation of the FOC was undertaken through farmland and along roadside areas of Western Australia.

Dunstans completed the project with great success, meeting the client’s expectations and milestones – satisfying all rigorous safety and quality standards.
